Career in sports

Juan Carlos Holgado is a four-time Olympian (Athlete in 1988 and 1992, Coach in 1996 and 2000) who became an Olympic Gold Medallist in Barcelona 1992. 

He holds a Master of Management and Administration in Sport and a License in Physical Education and Sport. He got involved in World Archery in 1999 as the Chairman of the Coaches Committee until 2004. In 2002 he joined the Athens 2004 Olympic Games Organizing Committee as the Technical Operations Manager for the Archery event. He was the Word Archery Technical Delegate in the Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. 

Professional life

Appointed as World Archery Events Director in 2005, he played a decisive role in the many changes introduced in the international archery events. From 1999 to 2021, he was the Chairman of the Technical Commission for Archery in FISU, the International University Sports Federation. In 2016 he became the World Archery Excellence Centre Director in Lausanne and Director of the World Archery Development Foundation (FIDTA). In October 2021, Juan Carlos changed his professional carrier, joining FISU as its Sports Director.

Juan Carlos has over two decades of experience in Archery in many areas. From managing international events, create and develop archery projects of any kind, educate and train archery coaches, coaching archers at any level, editing an Archery magazine, or writing hundreds of articles in magazines, and running seminars or workshops all over the World, Juan Carlos helped to develop and grow Archery Worldwide.
